Step 7: New Credit Card
These cards are used to CONFIRM your PayPal account. It’s not advised to use these cards in order to pay your seller fees.
What you’re looking for is either a Gift Card with a Visa or MasterCard logo on it or a Virtual Credit Card (talked about later) to confirm your PayPal account.
Note: There are also prepaid cards (with attached bank accounts) where you can register any name and address you choose for the card and add it to your PayPal account for verification but these cards also require your social security number and other details which make their usage limited.
As for Gift Cards you can use them right away usually without having to register the card. They work with any name and address you have associated with your PayPal account. You can pick up most cards at big-box stores such as Walmart and CVS. Those in countries such as Canada or the United Kingdom may not have these sort of cards as easily available so a Virtual Credit Card will be a better option (discussed later).

Having Trouble? I would strongly suggest Virtual Credit Cards which we’ll talk about next. Otherwise go to Google and type: “[your city] gift card”. Example: “visa gift card Australia” (without quotes). If you’re having trouble finding a card go to our support forums for help.
Note: When adding your card to PayPal, always select the ‘credit card’ option and not gift card or debit card. Once you enter your credit card details into eBay or PayPal’s system it’s there for good. You cannot reuse the same card for multiple accounts, even if you enter your card details and eBay or PayPal was unable to verify your card it’s in their system already and they will link you if you try to use it for another account. Also note that using a gift card will not suspend you account, so if you become suspended for some reason, it’s not because of your card
Why do I need to confirm my PayPal account? It’s advised not to sell on eBay until you’re PayPal account is VERIFIED and CONFIRMED. Otherwise the chances of you being limited is much higher. Also adding a gift card or a virtual credit card to your account will confirm your account which will increase your withdraw limits. Don’t skip this step.
What about REAL credit cards? You don’t want to use a real credit card that has been assigned by your bank. The reason for this is because with a real credit card you won’t be able to bypass AVS set by PayPal. With a gift card or virtual credit card, AVS is bypassed.
Make sure to keep up with the forums to know which prepaid cards work for verification and which ones you should avoid. If there are no cards where you can input any name and address, then you may need to get a DBA/LLC, bank account and apply for a credit card or debit card in your business name.
